Yolie Flores Aguilar

Yolie Flores Aguilar is a graduate of the University of Redlands. She received her master’s degree in Social Welfare from the University of California, Los Angeles. Yolie was a Coro City Focus Fellow in 1991 and was one of ten promising leaders selected for the 1993-1994 Children and Family Fellowship sponsored by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Most recently, Yolie was selected to participate in the US/South Africa Emerging Leaders Program focused on leadership and public values, and was a member of the LA Delegation to Tel Aviv with a focus on child welfare issues. Yolie was honored by the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles with the Incredible Women Making History award, received the Los Angeles County Women of the Year for 1999 award, and the Outstanding Service to Children award from the Alliance for Children’s Rights. In 2005 Yolie was selected as Social Worker of the Year for Region I by the National Association of Social Workers. Yolie is a first generation Mexican-American and lives in Los Angeles, California in the neighborhood of Highland Park with her husband Sal. Her greatest ambition is to make sure that all children grow up with opportunities to lead rich and fulfilling lives.
