Communities for Educational Equity (CEE) Steering Committee Meeting
Tuesday, July 25 2006

In order to attend University of California or California State University schools, students must enroll in and pass with a C or better the A-G courses while in high school. In June of 2005, the LAUSD School Board approved the A-G resolution which guarantees access to college coursework to all students. Since that passage the CEE has been working with the District to ensure it meets its goals of providing A-G coursework to all students according to the approved timeline. Regrettably, the District's progress in implementing A-G has not occurred at the agreed upon pace. The members of the CEE met to produce an action plan to move forward with A-G implementation. On July 25th, 2006, members of the CEE held a meeting with LAUSD School Board President Marlene Canter to discuss the fact that although the District has made policy recommendations to implement A-G curriculum, progress has been too slow and immediate steps must be taken in order to meet the goal of having every student A-G eligible by 2008 and onward.
