Los Angeles City Councilmember Jose Huizar Community Clean-up Event

Councilmember Jose Huizar sponsored a community clean-up event in Boyle Heights on August 19th, 2006. BHLC staff members joined other organizations such as the East L.A.  Community Corporation (ELACC), Victory Outreach, Roosevelt High School, the Community Development Department, and the Department of Public Works in facilitating a clean up of the Boyle Heights area. Numerous areas within Boyle Heights were targeted for a clean-up; in addition, abandoned bulky items were also collected throughout the community. BHLC volunteers worked extensively with ELACC in order to help clean up Soto Street from 1st Street to Avenida Cesar Chavez.
