The Boyle Heights Learning Collaborative volunteers for Mayor Villaraigosa's Day of Citizenship Tuesday, October 3 2006
On Saturday, September 30, 2006, from 7am to 6:30pm at the Los Angeles Convention Center, BHLC was among the host not-for-profit organizations, elected officials and other partners to support the NALEO Educational Fund in a large-scale Citizenship workshop to help the immigrant community in becoming U.S. Citizens.
The "Day of Citizenship" was among the largest citizenship assistance event ever coordinated in the City of Los Angeles and throughout the country. The event required over 400 volunteers to support the over 2000 immigrant parents & families seeking to reach their full potential by becoming citizens of the United States.
The Day of Citizenship Services included: * Completion of the N-400 Application * Passport Photographs * Money Order service at no charge * Review by an Immigration Attorney
Additionally, the NALEO Educational Fund will also make available its national toll-free bilingual hotline to provide information and answer questions regarding naturalization, voter registration and voting.
