Targeting parents of English Language Learners at Dena, Euclid and Sunrise elementary schools, BHLC's "ELL Tools for Parents" equips parents with the leadership, advocacy and informational tools needed to help parents work with teachers to ensure students efficiently reclassify into mainstream education.

Lesson 3:  Supporting English Language Development at Home
This 2-hour session guides parents through understanding their child's English Language Development (ELD) portfolios, as well as the CELDT exam that all English Learners are required to take every year.  In addition, the workshop provides parents with strategies that can help children build English language skills at home, and resources they can access as they guide their child's learning.  Parents receive certificates of completion at the conclusion of the class.
