Community Leadership Day

Community Leadership Day is an annual event to celebrate the leaders of our schools and the great resources that are available in our community.

Los Angeles City Councilmember José Huizar opened the event by congratulating parents and students for their commitment to improving the Boyle Heights community and affirming the shared goal of improving academic achievement in Boyle Heights. The event was hosted by the BHLC, Breed Street Elementary, the Society of Students and Beyond the Bell-East Youth Services and was held at Breed Street Elementary School.

For everyone's enjoyment, food, games, prizes, entertainment and community resources were provided by: Breed Street, First Street, Utah, and Hollenbeck schools; the BHLC, Families In Schools, Beyond The Bell-East Youth Services, Washington Mutual, Inner City Struggle, Salesian Family Youth Center and East Los Angeles Community Corporation. It was a day that truly brought the community of schools, neighbors, organizations and businesses together to form a powerful team that will lead the way to a brighter future for Boyle Heights.
