The Society of Students (SOS) Summer Institute
Monday, August 7 2006

The SOS Summer Institute presented the SOS Curriculum to the teachers and administrators of the Roosevelt School Family. During the 3 day training, teachers learned how to implement the SOS student leadership model in their classrooms.

In addition to District 5 schools, two schools from Long Beach sent teams to learn how to implement SOS in their schools. Lessons were modeled by student leaders, and students led the teachers who in turn brought in their administrators. There were over sixty "Go-To" AP adults from twelve elementary and two middle schools who left the Institute ready to spread the SOS culture

The three-day SOS Summer Institute was hosted by the Boyle Heights Learning Collaborative and presented by the Society of Students (SOS) AP student leaders, teachers, BHLC directors, parents, aides and principals. The powerful presentations of the AP student leaders and AP adults energized the teachers, administrators, counselors, special education teachers, district directors and coordinators who attended.
